Photograph of Cliff White on Snow Dome climb. All of the images included in the Bennett Party expedition were taken between 1930 and 1932. One trip included Alfred Lindlay; Erling Strom; Russell Bennett; Henry Kingman; Richard Gale and Doug Jeffery and occurred after the Banff - Jasper ski trip. The other trip with Bennett was in 1932 and included Henry Kingman; Russell Bennett; Richard Gale; Alfred Lindlay; Erling Strom; and Cliff White. Included with the series are the following notes typed by Weiss:;[1] Russel [sic] [Russell] Bennett, ALfred Lindley [sic] [Lindlay], Richard Gale / at the Bald Hills, Maligne Lake, Jasper Park / enjoy the beautiful view obtained at the Bald / Hills, Maligne Lake - Jasper Park, first ski - / party from the U.S.A. ever to visit Jasper / park in winter. The party was under guidance / of J.A. Weiss. A year later, the party made an / atempt [sic] [attempt] to ski to the Columbia Icefields, got as / far as Camp Parker, turned back, due to bad / storms, they found snow conditions excellent. [2]Erling Strom & Richard Gale / 1932 On Coronet Glacier climb, maligne [sic] Lake / district seen from summit of Coronet / Glacier. First party from U.S.A. erver [sic] [ever] / to take an extended trip in the Canadian / Rockies. Members of the party: Henry S. / Kingman, Rusell [sic] [Russell] Bennett, Richard Gale, / Alfred lindley [sic] [Lindlay], all from Minneapolis & / Erling Strom from New York and J. A. / Weiss as Guide [sic]. Today in 1981 Negatives [sic] of the trip are still in good conditions [sic] / in the hands of their guide, J. A. Weisz [sic] [Weiss];[3] 2 Negatives [sic] with Minneapolis Ski / Party, Members Kingman, Bennett, Lindly [sic] [Lindlay] / Gale, and Erling Strom / Made it as far as Parker Ridge and to the / Base of Saskatchewan Glacier, time did not / permit exploration;[4] Coronet Creek and Coronet Glacier, / South of Maligne Lake with first Ski / Party from outside of Jasper ever to / ski in Jasper Park. Ski Route: Jasper / Medicine Lake, Maligne Lake, South end / Maligne Lake, up Coronet Creek to Coronet / Glacier, traverse Glacier, ski down the / South part of the Glacier proceed over / Braxeau Lake to wardens [sic] [warden's] cabin, after a / days rest proceed to the base of Sask. Gl. / returned to Jasper via Pobokta [sic] Pobokton] pass / Maligne Lake, Maligne Canyon. / Members of the Party from right to left / Alfred Lindley [sic] [Lindlay], Erling Strom, Russell [sic] [Russell] / Bennett, Henry Kingman , Richard Gale / Doug Jeffery asst.
